The CALM Center is a voluntary short-term observation, intervention and stabilization service for adults 18 and older. The crisis respite facility is centrally located with Watauga Behavioral Health, the Crisis Stabilization Unit and Magnolia Ridge Residential Treatment Center. The average stay is 8 to 10 hours.
The program, provided through the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, will provide assessment, short-term observation, intervention and monitoring when they’re facing a potential mental health crisis. The 24/7 walk-in center offers respite from a hectic situation, a starting place for someone needing further care that includes a crisis evaluation, outpatient treatment, stabilization, addiction services, co-occurring, referral or hospitalization.
