Kid Power, a free event for children, youth, and families in the Tri-Cities region, will occur on April 29th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Discover Life in Johnson City. Kid Power is held every year during Mental Health Awareness Month to help promote the mental wellness of children, youth, and their families.

Kid Power will feature costume contest, parade, a scavenger hunt with prizes for those who complete it, FREE food (while supplies last), music, and other fun activities. There will also be door prizes including a Nintendo Switch and many other smaller prizes.

Kid Power is brought to you through many community partners, including Parenting Sweet, Ballad Health Niswonger Children’s Network, Mental Health Association, Read N Play for a bright future, ETSU Health, Theatre Bristol, Tennessee Department of Health, TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services System, TN System of Care, TN Voices, and Frontier Health.

“The purpose of Kid Power is to recognize and promote the mental health and well-being of children in our region.  It is designed to provide not only important information but also a fun bonding time for the whole family.  Life today is full of stressors for children and adults alike.  Kid Power offers a time to slow down, relax, and have fun all while learning about all aspects of health and available resources.  Caretakers and children of any age can benefit from the event.– Melissa Birdwell, Frontier Health C&Y Division Director
