WHAT IS FRONTIER HEALTH

HALF A CENTURY OF SERVICE

Founded in 1957, Frontier Health is the region’s leading provider of behavioral health services, offering treatment for mental health, co-occurring, and substance abuse problems, recovery and vocational rehabilitation, and developmental and intellectual disabilities services.

FRONTIER HEALTH IS DEDICATED TO PROVIDING QUALITY SERVICES THAT ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

HIGH QUALITY CARE

Frontier Health strives to continue to be a leader in establishing and demonstrating local, regional and national standards of excellence for accessible and high quality behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and vocational services.

Frontier Health uses a quality improvement system to plan, design, measure, assess and improve program performance, especially related to the health care and safety of individuals served.

Performance Improvement data, including consumer safety data, can be requested through the Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance.

OUR SERVICE AREA: A NETWORK OF PROFESSIONALS

Frontier Health has over 60 professionally staffed facilities located in 12 counties throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Services in Southwest Virginia are provided in partnership with Planning District 1. For more information about Planning District 1’s behavioral health services, click here.

Serving the region since 1957, we are a private, not for profit 501(c)3 organization, Frontier Health offers a range of care to help individuals successfully move forward, sustain recovery and achieve their full potential.

Frontier Health works with health care providers, community agencies, advocacy groups, law enforcement, courts, and government and business markets to develop coalitions that address emerging community needs, tackle health care gaps and thwart evolving social problems.

With a comprehensive network of trained professionals, we help our most challenged citizens achieve independence; have safe, affordable housing; lead fuller, more productive lives; become contributing members of their communities; and create a positive impact on local economies.

OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Accessible
All services are accessible by calling the 24-Hour Crisis Helpline at 877-928-9062 or using the chat feature through our website.

Awareness, Education & Prevention
We believe awareness, education and prevention are vital services to increase knowledge and reduce the stigma around behavioral health concerns.  We provide effective prevention strategies and build coalitions to increase emotional, mental and physical well-being within the communities we serve.

Community & Family Engagement
Frontier Health unconditionally seeks the voice and choice of individuals, families and communities. Our treatment prioritizes a
person-centered approach for sustainable recovery.

Comprehensive Services
Frontier Health considers the health of the whole person across a full life span. We developed an expansive continuum of care to achieve emotional, mental and physical well-being at all stages of life.

Evidenced Based Practices
Frontier Health incorporates evidence-based practices throughout all levels of care. Therapists have a variety of current and proven strategies to improve health, individualize care, and truly meet individuals where they are.

Outcomes Driven
Outcomes provide a means to objectively measure the success of Frontier Health as a whole. We focus on outcomes to inform
collaborative decisions about services provided.

Person Centered
Central to our philosophy of care is providing individually-directed therapy and services.

Recovery Oriented
Frontier Health supports a philosophy of recovery. Our services are built on the belief that individuals are resilient and capable of making positive change; there is no wrong path to recovery. We provide options that are accessible, welcoming and supportive.

Trauma Informed Care
Frontier Health promotes trauma-informed culture, care and procedures. All staff are trained to recognize signs and symptoms of trauma.
Therapy incorporates treatment for the impact of trauma and traumatic stress.
